Kevin Goddess is an abstract painter with a nod to the modernist movement. He seeks to create a personal visual language that expresses and reflects the world around us. Inspired by nature, memory and the modern urban landscape. He fills the canvas with geometric shapes and organic forms which seem both solid and light. Innovation, and experimentation are an ongoing part of his process, each painting is a journey. Each brushstroke is like a step in a direction that informs the next one.

Painted entirely by feeling, discovery and intuitive improvision, his work rarely seems contained within the canvas. Rather it suggests that there’s more of the story outside the frame and invites the viewer to imagine it. As a lifelong drummer, Kevin's rhythmic instincts inform his work, as evidenced in energetic, dynamic strokes of acrylic paint. Textured backgrounds are scraped, scratched and often filled with repetitive marks and lines--spontaneous, rough-edged and imperfect. The graphic shapes and rich colors give his canvases an uplifting feel.

Kevin earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in classical drawing from Kutztown University. After college he toured as a drummer with an indie band for a decade, and then had a successful career as a sought-after graphic designer in New York City. He has happily returned to his original passion--art. He now paints full-time and splits his time between New York City and Palm Springs, CA. His work is in dozens of private collections across the United States.
